Creature concept sheet: shadownymph

DESCRIPTION:

A skinny female-shaped creature that infests dark and isolated places (mainly urban).
Its length varies between 160 cm (5' 2 approx) and 170 cm (5'6 approx), and it's extremely light.
It have no eyes: it doesn't need them, since it usually moves in total darkness. Hearing and smell don't seem particularly developed (shadownymphs have not been studied in depth, since no live specimen has ever been caught and decomposes very quickly without leaving a trace - with an exception that I'll deepen later): is supposed to use a echolocation system to move and hunt. The source of this ability seems to be a stone located in the head of the creature. This black-matted stone is the only thing that does not decompose, and - reduced to dust - is used in various disciplines (such as medicine, for example) with the name of Nymph's Black Powder.
An other part of the body that is used are the hair, though it's difficult to obtain them - because hair should be cut when the creature is still alive, and placed immediately under formaldehyde. Due to this difficulty, they're payed very well. After being treated, hair - along with other textile fibers - are used to pack coats or other garments that help to blend into the darkness (a hot item for thieves, spies and murderers).
Of course, to enjoy these products, you first need to deal with those numerous and sharp teeth, strong enough to pierce even the leather (so be sure to wear a resistant armour when you face them, or to be particularly fast). IT can widely open their jaws. In addition to the teeth, there are claws. The long - very long - tentacle-like tongue is used to catch and drag the prey. Moreover, from the opening on the belly, it can emit tentacles (usually 4 or 6).
It usually moves crawling (almost never standing), and can easily scale the walls. It can attack alone or in a group - useless to say that is more difficult to escape if they are in many rather than one. They attack anything that moves - animals, humans... -, but seem reluctant to attack vampires (although it can happen).
They are extremely hostile (and non-sentient), but it is not clear why they hunt: is not for eating, 'cause they don't swallow the flesh that they tear from victims - rather they spit it. Is not for defending their territory, because they move often, not occupying a particular place permanently. The only supposition is that shadownymphs attacks for the fun of it. Their cry is high-pitched, as nails on a blackboard.
Another mystery concerns the reproduction: shadow nymphs they all look the same. Despite the feminine appearance, they don't have visible genitalia. The popular view shared is that they simply pop out from shadows.
Their biggest weakness is the light: even the light of a torch can irritate their extremely sensitive skin - sometimes enough to run away (useless to say that shadownymphs move around exclusively during nighttime). While firearms are useless against them, cutting weapons are the most effective. They have thick black blood, that evaporates almost as soon as it comes into contact with a surface. Cut off some limbs is usually enough to kill it.

Phew, I did it! I created a creature. Here's an evil thing that will keep my OCs occupied for a while, until I'll invent something more evil, dangerous and creepy xD

It was already a bit 'of time I had in mind this ... thing, but until now it was only a vague idea. I know, I know, it's not particularly original. I'm sure you can list at least a thousand creatures that resemble ist (please, have mercy of me and don't do it )
So, the idea that one day suddenly came in my mind was basically this: a female-like creature with long black hair that crawl like long-black-haired girls in horror movies. Then, a lot of non-original things has bombarded my mind, gave birth to this assemblage of inspiration-plagiarism thingy. ...well, is the best I can do, it seems ^^' Moreover, while I was writing the description, I realized that I was heavily influenced by Alan Wake (especially the parts about light that hurts them yada yada yada)...
At first it had to be all black, but when I started colouring I realized that the result was a big black stain, so I changed the colour of the body. I also added that cute(?) tongue, that wasn't in the project.
